Charges in 2 separate police-involved shootings - Chicago Breaking News: "Paul Washington, 41, has been charged with two counts of attempted murder and two counts of aggravated assault of a police officer and single counts of unlawful use of a weapon by a felon and not having a Firearm Owner's Identification card, according to a police statement.
At about 10:30 p.m. Saturday, officers patrolling the 8200 block of South Marquette Avenue spotted a man standing on a porch with a gun in his hand, police said.
The officers, who were in uniform, got out of their vehicle and ordered the man to drop his weapon. Washington allegedly fired the gun in the direction of the officers and the police officers returned fire. As he tried to flee the scene, Washington fired shots behind his back at the officers while he was running, police said. The officers opened fire a second time, striking him several times in his legs and back, police said."
